Corpus Christi skunk removal tip of the month: Skunk removal house - Having a skunk living under or near your home can be a smelly predicament. Not only does the animal carry the potential for rabies, it will leave a foul scent wherever it goes. This isn't because the skunk is spraying constantly; this is just the animal's natural odor. When it sprays, you'll know. Removing the skunk from your property will depend on where it is living. Skunks that are under the home or under a part of the home like the deck can be easier to catch than skunks that just hang out in the yard for a while and return to a hidden den in the forest. The visiting skunk can be trapped with a baited cage trap out in the yard. You'll know the areas where the critter likes to hang out by the appearance of turned over plots of soil. The skunk under the house can also be trapped with a cage trap, but if you can locate where that animal is coming and going from, you can use the cage trap a bit more effectively. By constructing a temporary barrier from the den opening to the trap, you can “funnel” the skunk into the cage. It is helpful if you bait the trap with something appealing, like cat food. Remember to place the trap on level ground so it doesn't wobble when the skunk enters.
